Option Intros Stylish 3G Wireless Router : Globesurfer III

Option announced the release of its new 3G wireless router that is capable of creating a Wi-Fi hotspot with a fast HSPA broadband connection in a networked home or small office. The device is now available for mobile operators, distributors and Value Added Resellers. An instant communication hub can be created for an instant over a WiFi Hotspot features through Globesurfer III that enables multiple users to share a connection simultaneously.

Packed with new and unique features, the GlobeSurfer® III pushes the boundaries of conventional gateway routers. Using a Qualcomm 7225 chipset, this clever device offers HSUPA at 5.76Mbps, as well as AWS support – making it a forerunner in the bandwidth market. Naturally, it comes with full telephone functionality, including composing, reading and managing SMS text messages.Hard drives and printers can be connected via the integrated USB port. This means users have access to a central storage system, allowing them to back-up critical files, or share files across the LAN. Multimedia files such as MP3s or AVIs can be streamed across the network.

A printer can be conveniently located and used by all connected PCs. The GlobeSurfer® III is easy to use too, with just two buttons and a clear, color display screen. The browser has been sub-divided into two sections, so users who only require basic features such as SMS, Telephone, Quick Set-Up and Security can perform all these tasks without having to navigate through more complex functions within the advanced section.

New features and ease-of-use raise router performance to new heights and eliminate the barriers to adoption among households and small businesses wishing to share a high speed HSPA connection. The GlobeSurfer III reiterates the role of wireless broadband as a real alternative to DSL.

Fed up with your Computer? Nailed it !!

July 31, 2008, by Mohd Ghufran No comments yet

Believe me, there is a time once in your life you have a feeling to like taking a hammer and hit a nail to computer of yours. Now you can do so..yes its true.

Apparently some of the clever minds at plankton figured out a way to let people live out that fantasy without totally destroying their partially functional machine. Here it comes “The “nailed” flash drive”.The “nailed” USB flash drive features 2GB of internal storage, with a weird design and a rather huge head to ensure that the nailer’s even your child don’t miss the target :-)

This is the first product from plankton, a new design company based in the Netherlands.Pick one up now in galvanized or blued for ($46) = RM148.You can buy your own from plankton, cool huh !!

“4G” Gimmick Is So Uncool

January 27, 2008, by ashraf 7 comments

When iZZi announced their first and only “4G” product, I quickly doubted that. iZZi’s “4G” wireless broadband is actually the iBurst technology, a pre-4G or post-3G technology (whichever do you prefer) that applies multi-input & multi-output theme which operates on a similar premise as GSM or CDMA2000 for cellular phones. iBurst is not under IEEE 802.16 standards which inlcude WiMAX, but is actually registered as IEEE 802.20 standard.

iBurst or technically known as HC-SDMA (High Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access) is a wireless broadband technology developed by ArrayComm. ArrayComm is a wireless communications software company based in Silicon Valley, San Jose, California and was founded in 1992. ArrayComm provides multi-antenna signal processing (MAS) software for wireless communications systems which often referred to as “Smart Antennas” or “MIMO”. Today, the software is running in more than 275,000 base stations, in 15 countries around the world. Smart antenna array improves wireless subscriber experiences and the economics of radio networks. The solution is independent to the network system and supports industry standards including WCDMA, HSPA, GSM, WiMAX, PHS, and of course the HC-SDMA. iBurst optimizes the use of its bandwidth with the help of smart antennas. Kyocera is the leading manufacturer of iBurst devices.

4G technology is actually not yet released not only in Malaysia but the whole world. The IEEE 802.16n is preferredly the strongest candidate that might be the next 4G technology. It is expected to deliver data rate from 100Mbps up to 1Gbps for future wireless broadband and not 1Mbps as claimed by iZZi. In my opinion, it is unethical to fool end users with such as unacceptable gimmick. Even if it is just a product name, iZZi should consider other names. Besides, the data rate is not even as fast as HSDPA and HSUPA of 3G technology family.

Maxis To Implement HSUPA

August 10, 2007, by Mohd Ghufran 1 comment

maxis high speed

Maxis today announced its successful implementation of High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) technology in a live network.

In a statement, it said HSUPA will enable a three-fold improvement in uplink data speeds, up to 1.4Mbps compared with 384kbps previously.

“We see this significant wireless broadband coverage expansion and introduction of HSUPA as key factors in differentiating us from other 3G and wireless broadband operators,” said chief executive officer Jon Eddy Abdullah.

He said HSUPA will improve the performance of applications which require faster uplink such as e-mails and photo sharing.

This HSUPA data transmission and planned rollout are made possible through strong collaboration with Ericsson, Maxis’s key 3G network supplier.

Ericsson Malaysia’s president and country manager Krishna Kumar said with future network upgrades and more advanced devices, the HSUPA will be able to support upload peak speeds higher than 5Mbps.
