I have one and I used it with MAC Tiger and now Leopard. It works fine. Click the ‘Ignore’ button when the system gives you choice. I am now in Malaysia and want to use it with Celcom, but suspect I need to unlock it – anyone any ideas??. It worked really well in the UK with ‘Three’ who were the Service Provider. Not as fast as hard connection but god enough for all practical purposes – except critical time bids on E Bay!!

i just bought MF622 at low yatt and my intention is to use with my RM78 Maxis broadband advanced plan. I use the default software provided which is U mobile software. When i put the maxis sim card to my new modem zte mf622, there is nothing happen, even cannot detect any signal or bar at all. but when i switch to celcom that im previously enable with daily broadband it works. so, my question here is..is it possible to use ZTE MF622 with maxis bb advanced plan RM78 one?..or there is another configuration in order for maxis to detect this modem?..

    currently my config is :

    user name:maxis
    password:wap
    dial no:*99#
    APN:maxisbb

    anyone please help me!

    matt,

is it possible to use ZTE MF622 with maxis bb advanced plan RM78 one?..

    - most probably, impossible. If I’m not mistaken Maxis bb SIM card is locked to the specific modem they give you when you subscribed to their bb. Usually, it’s the modem that’s locked to a specific ISP, but now it’s the SIM card that’s locked.

or there is another configuration in order for maxis to detect this modem?..

    - you’re asking to unlock the SIM card? :) Because the modem isn’t locked – you can be sure when you call the seller of that modem. Chances are, it’s not.

3.Can I use another operator’s USIM card in the modem?
Yes you can however you will need to re-configure the settings in the USB Modem. This is not encouraged as you will then need to reconfigure again when you swap back to U Mobile USIM card.

    - see question #3 at http://surf.u.com.my/faq/surf_with_u_how_it_works.html

so in matt case, even if U Mobile MF622 modem isn’t locked to U Mobile network, matt still can’t get into Maxis bb from that very modem because if I’m not mistaken from what I’ve heard so far, it’s Maxis SIM card that’s locked, and not their modem. So when the SIM is locked, you can only use it to its own modem.

If you’re using Maxis Broadband,u can’t,because the simcard itself locked. But other telco like Celcom Broadband,U-Mobile can.

    Hi..
can this UM sim card run using other modem like option GT max Express card?..Tried using huawei USB data Card but its not work..can detected the line but can’t connect..why arr?..

U-Mobile simcard is not locked, you can use on all USB/datacard Modem, but you have to do some configuration on the modem.

    For Huawei E220:
Go to Setting > Network Connection Setting > NEW > Give a profile name ( any name) > APN (choose static) in the box type : my3g > OK

For option GTMax: If you are using Globetrotter GT Connect just replace the APN to : my3g . Thats all

    Hello Jennie,
    1. it said “A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed.” thats mean your port is currently use by another application.
    2. The solution is tryin to clean up your pc with Ccleaner, fix it and restart your pc.
    3. Try connecting again and its connect. If not do a installation your driver and dashboard software again.

  43. napster said:

I found that you had to create your own config file, to do this:

[in the zte mobile connection program]

    1. Click on “settings” – the cogs icon
    2. Click Add
    3. Set Config Filename to a name which doesnt exist e.g. napster
    4. Set dial number to be *99#
    5. Ensure the following are selected:
    . Obtain APN address automatically
. Obtain DNS server address automatically
    . Obtain PDP address automatically
    6. PDP type should be: IP
    7. Authentication mode should be: PAP
    8. Click OK
    9. Click Set default to be the Config Filename you chose e.g. napster

    Try connecting again.

    Quote

  44. Sally said:

yep, if you haven’t installed anything that might affect the settings/config of the modem and/or the connection, try the numbers *99# or *99***1# because I heard that the error connection closed (Error #619) is an APN issue… sometimes a simple restart or not-so-simple reboot can solve it. if none works, try the Celcom careline number. the last thing would be to see the doctor – send your modem to a technician. :)

I believe you can get your speed about 90% from 100% that ISP give you.
    So lets do a tweaking..
Ok…Answer the question below before do tweaking >>

    1. What type of connection do you have? i.e. 56K, ISDN, DSL (PPPoE or not), Cable etc.

    2. Who is your ISP and what is your advertised speed from them? i.e. Cox.net & 3000/256 – this is advertised in kilobits per second.

    3. What are your current settings now? Do a TCP/IP Analyzer Test and copy and paste the results (remember to XXXXX out your IP address) here. Here the link>> http://www.speedtest.net/

    4. Please tell me your operating system i.e. 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2K or XP.

    Hello tgebb567..

Just only remember, that’s the nature of an internet connection over a mobile phone line. Much depends on your distant and clear line of sight to the cell tower and the clarity of the airwave and make sure your modem is placed a few feet away from all other electrical devices to avoid high ping and your signal quality should be fine.

Please is the cable included in the package with double USB connections for using with a router ? I bought a ZTE 622 modem from Telcel (Mexico) and there are no informations in the box about the use of this cable with three connectors : two USB and the one for the modem.
    Thanks for answering.

Yes the cable with double usb connector is included.Actually i’m using double usb connector when i used my notebook using power from battery, because the usage of double connector to supply additional power, otherwise the notebook can’t detect the modem. For router purpose i’m not sure how it works.

  70. weather said:

    Saturnin,
The folks at Telcel told me the same thing, that the double connector could work as a router, but it’s a big fat lie. They simply didn’t know what it’s for. If you need to serve other computers try setting up a cabled LAN, it’s easy enough.
Now I have a problem: after months of using the modem, I can’t stay connected for more than 2, 3 minutes. It says “modem not detected”. It’s not my ports, not the cable (I checked). Could be the drivers but the install disk doesn’t work for Vista/XP so I’m downloading them now. The folks at Telcel say it could be the modem itself, but that sending it to guarantee would leave me w/o modem for at least 15 days. I’m really hoping it’s just the drivers.

    @ nAIm
    for mf626,
in windows, plug the modem in to usb port and press SHIFT
    (this will disable autorun mode)
and then, you find setup file for linux inside the modem..
make copy of that files to another place, and ready to install in ubuntu

Hi, i’ve been using ZTE MF622 for 3 months.
But in the last few days, i couldn’t connect through UMTS/HSDPA anymore. Everytime the signal reaches UMTS, when i try connecting, the ’service type’ turns from PC into (only) C. Even if it’s connected, the ‘receive rate’ always stays at 0.00Kbps.

And GPRS connection seems to be having no problem at all.

    Any suggestion?
    Thanks before

I also have the same problem like Ooka using ZTE MF622. Initially okay, but now I can’t connect through UMTS/HSDPA anymore. Using UMTS, the ’service type’ turns from PC into (only) C. Only can connect using GPRS/EDGE. Something wrong with 3.5G HSDPA in the modem?

edwin,i have some situation where i use window xp sp3 and use zte modem with no problem, for some reason i format my computer with window xp sp2 and then install zte modem, i cannot connect to internet at all… then i upgrade to window xp sp3 then problem solve. so maybe i can conclude some feature cannot work with zte modem.

for window 7, u have to:

    1. setup connection wizard
my network place>create a new connetion>click next>choose connct to the internet>setup my connection manually>connect using a dial-up modem>enter your line, me use digi, so type ‘diginet’ in ISP name>type dial up no with ur line manufacture provider like me use digi>click next until finish, no need to fill password and username.

    2.setting your zte modem
go to configuration>fill config name with ‘digi’ if u use digi>fill dial number(get the no from ur line provider)>click ok.
go to phone book, add ur contact number same in dialing number. close zte modem.

    3. open ur zte modem dont click start, click ur connetion that in step 1 until its connect, then u click connect in zte modem.

the important is u have to know ur dialing number.
    try it…
